Sunday morning, crystal clear and relatively warm. Finishing touches were put on the barn decorations. In the early afternoon, the trail boss and his wife arrived with piles of food. This party was going to be catered “chuck wagon style”. There was an abundance of tortilla chips, guacamole, salsa and warm, spicy cheese dip. Also J’s favorite cold dip made with cottage cheese, garlic, green pepper, olives. A yummy blend. The main course was a barbecued beef brisket, sauces and pickles, cheesey roast potatoes, cole slaw, baked beans and buns for the brisket. Dessert? J’s birthday cake of course! It was a fun filled afternoon with interesting background connections being made and stories of J’s adventures around the world made for interesting listening.
The first photograph above is of a tractor with the incredibly clean bucket filled with about 50 pounds of ice and dozens of cans of assorted sodas and water. P did a great job putting this party together and a we all had a really good time.
